The Story Of Election
The word 'Election' has been trending for over 2 months. So, What is Election ?
The process of electing people from different places as the representative of that place is known as Election.I has its roots from the Latin word 'eligere' which means 'pick out'. Elections happen in every democratic country. For eg :- India, USA, UK, France etc. The first election was held in USA between 1788 and 1789. At first only men above the age of 25 had the right to vote but now everyone has the right to vote because of a feature called Universal Adult Franchise. The motive of election is to solve the problems of common people by electing representatives from the areas where frequently problems arise. But people use many dirty tricks and tactics to win the elections such as Hacking of EVM (Electronic Voting Machine), Giving money to voters to vote for the party, threatening them etc which goes against the principles of conduction of elections. Conduction of elections is the responsibility of Election Commission of any democratic country. They should ensure that the elections are being conducted impartially. Elections decide the future of any democratic country as representatives are the bridge between the government and the common people. So to develop a country, its every area should be developed and to develop it, we need to have good representatives and to have good representatives, we need to vote. About 60% of our country's population are active voters which means the failure of democracy. So to be a active citizen, we have to be an active voter. Thank you.
