CHAPTER 6
Both Robert and Gillian enjoyed the party immensely, specially Gillian
who will remember this party forever.
They both went up the stairs , but before entering their respective rooms both stood for a while in the empty corridor.
Robert again gave her that intense look and calmly said: Think about my question that I asked you.
Gillian answered : Yes, I will give you my answer later.
Robert said : okay, and took hold of her hand and gently touched it.
Then they turned and entered their rooms.
When Gillian entered her room she smelt something unusual but she could not recognise the source of the smell.
The smell was something like stale human sweat.
She looked around but found no sign of any mishap, so, she went to the window and opened it so that some
fresh air could come in.
She went to her washroom and changed her clothes , she wore a long nighty.
after she changed her dress she sat in front of her mirror ready to remove her makeup when she saw something written on her mirror which read:
"Your consequences will be disastrous if you dare to come to Oakland and solve the Jim Case".
Gillian looked closely and saw a name written: " Luther".
She wondered who on earth is this "Luther" never heard the name, neither did Robert say this name.
She looked again at the message and thought maybe this is a prank.
But still she felt uneasy and thought
should I call Robert , maybe he knew
about this.
She wore her dressing gown over her nighty slowly opened the door and looked around the corridor to see if there were any intruders.
When she saw no-one she glided softly towards his room which was just
opposite her room, wondering whether he was even awake, she knocked his door and the door opened, Robert was standing in front of his door , he was surprised to see her.
He asked: Hey! gill what happenedyou look nervous whats wrong.
Gill said: " Sorry to have disturbed you at the dead of night , something unusual has happened in my room.
Robert startled and said : What do you mean? has anything happened to You? are you alright? damn, you if anything had happened to You, I would have never forgiven myself.
Gillian said: no, nothing has happened to me, I am alright , but could you kindly come to my room, I need to show you something.
Robert said : okay ! let's go.
Before Robert went to Gillians room he made it a point to close his room and put his keys into his pocket.
They both then padded across.
when they reached the room Robert first asked Gillian to enter then he went inside and closed her room door behind him.
Then he asked her okay now tell me,
Gillian pointed her slender finger towards the mirror.
Robert went closer towards it and read the message.
"Your consequences will be disastrous if you care to come to Oakland to solve the Jim Case".- Luther
Gillian asked : Do you know anyone by this name?
He said: no, I haven't but maybe chief would know.
But for now you go to bed while I settle myself on the sofa.
Hope you won't mind.
Gillian said: no, I wouldn't mind as she handed him another pillow and a blanket.
