"The forest of the damned"-Part 2
The Silence was no longer bothering me.
I got to this point by realizing that while it worked to the advantage of my pursuer, it did the same for me. While I gathered myself in the media I remembered hearing faintly audible foot steps that were completely out of sync with mine, so if I can hear them then I could track them and get an idea of what I was dealing with. I'd been walking for several hours now, and my watch (which thankfully still worked) told me it was around seven-thirty at night and a quick glance up showed that the sun was setting fast which ment I need to find shelter fast and preferably above ground so I won't be easy to get to at night. Either that or dig a hole and build around it. I opted for the second one since it was easier.
I found a decent spot under a tree, so I dug out a simple five by five hole and laid a couple of surprisingly heavy and resiliant branches of what I'm assuming was some kind of pine trees with thicker than usual foliage, but had enough ventilation to have a fire burning and not be seen and be able to breathe safely. I then realized my need for food since I somehow forgot to bring anything, so I did a quick sweep within eyesight of my little hut, and was lucky enough to get a rabbit, then realizing how loud that had been in these woods ran as quietly as possible to my hut(grabbing a couple small to medium branches)and made it back into my hut safely, then closed it up and secured it all with my rope, and then waited quietly for any movement. Sure enough, I heard light steps getting closer but only making the faintest of noises the entire time, and it stopped directly infront of my shelter, and despite the foliage hiding me I could see its feet, and I instantly knew that this was no ordinary predator. Its skin was as black obsidian, and its feet had three long, claw tipped toes. It stayed there another long, agonizing ten minutes, then took off again until my unease was completely gone and there was no more foot steps. I then went about the task of lighting the fire to cook my dinner, and while the rabbit roasted I thought about the creature I was being hunted by,...
