Chapter 1

Hi, My name is Ashley Todd. Just to let you know life is hard when your young and everything you were taught never happened. Here I am 26, surviving. You know how hard it is to meet a guy. You have your online scammers, your run of the mill no text back sweethearts, and your lets go out for drinks just so you can smack me, wanna touch feelers and on top of all of that I'm stuck working at this store. A little convenient store the size of a warehouse. Oh yeah my life sucks.

"So, what's your plans for the weekend?" Her coworker asked bored.

That's Sarah Grace, my partner in the crime of life. She is stationed by me. We're both cashiers and make shift stockers.

" Go to the bar, try to hookup!" Ashley replied while munching on popcorn by the register "You?"

" Sleep in probably." Sarah said in a hopeful voice.

" You wanna come probably be a bunch of losers there!" Ashley said in a persuading cheer.

"No. I'm good maybe the next weekend." Sarah replied

"Okay!" Ashley said in a funny voice.

Chapter 2

The bar light was dim as she waited for there drinks. She laughed as a guy came across the room nervous he sat down.

" What are you drinking tonight?" He asked mysteriously.

" Vodka and lemon lime soda , makes it taste like grapes" She replied.

" Another round on me!" he told the barkeep, in a settle voice.

As normal the night went on and as normal nothing happen, no spark, no funny feeling, and definitely no loneliness for each other. At least not that she felt. She always dreamed for more, more love, more laughter, and more life.
"Well I gotta go." she laughed.

" Next week!" he said.

" Maybe?" while thinking of where she was going to hide with Sarah.

" Sounds great! Next week!" he said as he was putting his jacket on.

" Next week." She smiled as she left.

It was early in the morning as she arrived at the store. The store was dark, the stocking was behind. The shift was going as normal, she counted her draw and started. Sarah must have called off sick.

"I can't believe this!" Ashley exclaimed!

She hurried to work. Already excited about her date next Saturday. She couldn't wait to meet up with him. Missing her friend at work as the shift carried on.

"Too, much to do." She said. "Can't wait for the day to be over with."

"Same." The manager replied.

He was a young, stocky looking guy. Certified to the tee and ready to go. Years of experience behind him. Blonde hair, tan skin, with the smell of liquor upon him.

"A few hours to go." He laughed.

"Already done with the stock." She smiled.

"Way to go!" He looked.

It was growing dark outside. The sun had started to fall. A few days to go, she was to excited.

Saturday had finally came, the big night.

"Hey." Ashley said to the barkeep.

Some moments passed, but not too long she had started to get nervous, as the room was clearing. She had called Sarah to keep her updated.

"He's not here." She cried.

"Asshole, I can't believe this." Sarah replied. He couldn't just stood you up!"

From across the room she heard another girl calling out to her.

"He got arrested." The girl laughed. "On eighteenth street."

"Thank you." Ashley replied.

"No problem." The girl looked. " Be safe he is still in jail."

"Okay." Ashley said relieved as they moved closer. " Do you know which one?"

"No just look it up." The girl smiled with her group.

Ashley returned thanked them again and returned to her phone call.

"Hey, Sarah I gotta lead." Ashley said happy.

"Okay, love come over." Sarah replied.
