The Curse of the Mummy
#WritcoStoryPrompt35
The discovery was mind blowing by most standards. I mean who unearths an
Egyptian mummy after so many centuries?
"Dr.Hima! "
I turn surprised by my assistant's shout. His wide, frightened eyes stare back
at me. "What is it, Ron?"
He points at the corner of the mummy's coffin. "That's dried blood, Dr. I
think there's someone else in there with that mummy."

Dr. Hima and Ron were part of an archaeological team that had discovered a
hidden tomb in the Valley of the Kings. They had been working for months to
excavate and study the ancient artifacts and relics that were buried with the
pharaohs. One day, they stumbled upon a sarcophagus that was unlike any other
they had seen before. It was made of gold and adorned with jewels and
hieroglyphs. It was also sealed with a thick layer of wax and a warning
inscription that read: "Whoever disturbs the rest of the king shall face his
wrath."

Dr. Hima was curious and excited about the find. She wanted to open the
sarcophagus and examine the mummy inside. She believed that it could be a rare
and valuable discovery that would shed light on the history and culture of
ancient Egypt. She ignored the warning and ordered Ron to help her break the
seal and lift the lid.

Ron was hesitant and nervous about the task. He had a bad feeling about the
sarcophagus and its ominous message. He had heard stories and legends about the
curses and plagues that befell those who tampered with the tombs of the
pharaohs. He tried to persuade Dr. Hima to leave it alone and respect the
wishes of the dead. He said that it could be dangerous and disrespectful to
disturb the king's rest.

Dr. Hima dismissed Ron's concerns and insisted on opening the sarcophagus. She
said that it was their duty as archaeologists to explore and learn from the
past. She said that there was no such thing as curses and superstitions, only
science and facts. She said that they had nothing to fear from a dead body
wrapped in bandages.

They used a crowbar and a hammer to pry open the lid of the sarcophagus. As
they did, they heard a loud hiss and saw a cloud of dust rise from the gap.
They coughed and covered their mouths as they waited for the dust to settle.
Then, they looked inside the sarcophagus.

They were shocked by what they saw.

There was indeed a mummy inside, but it was not alone. There was another body
next to it, a fresh one, still bleeding from a stab wound in its chest. It was
one of their colleagues, Dr. Omar, who had gone missing a few days ago.

Dr. Hima gasped and screamed as she recognized Dr. Omar's face. She wondered
how he got there and who killed him. She also noticed something else that made
her blood run cold.

The mummy's hand was holding a dagger, stained with blood.

The mummy's eyes were open, staring at them with malice.

The mummy's mouth was moving, whispering something in an ancient language.

It was alive.

It was angry.

It was cursed.

**Moral:** Do not disturb the dead or you will face their wrath.
