I was once told by a friend that music has power, music is a story written to be enjoyed by the ears and not the eyes. Music is a respect, it is earned. Music is like an oral tradition, sung to never be forgotten because music is immortal and it has such a mesmerizing power, it commands attention without asking for it. Its presence is a hint, a sign, a warning. MUSIC HAS POWER and those ignorant of that power stand to test the fate of time.
Music is a story of what people are feeling, what people have passed through, what people fear most, what people love most, MUSIC is an expression, feelings, thoughts, fear and many more all balled up and delivered in a song. Music is fearless. A person’s narration on what they went through and how they came out stronger, better, fitter. A person’s fuck you to the world with its endless griefs and life with its endless tests. A person’s “Hey, you fucked up world, I was broken but you know what , I fixed myself and look at me now, I’m fixed, I’m no longer broken, look at my lyrics, they are not mere words to keep you entertained, they are tidbits of life, to encourage you, teach you, break you and fix you back better than before. And I don’t care about your feelings, right now, this is my music, you care about mine." Music is a fearless exposure of someone who is no longer scared of the wounds that may come because they are already wounds that are here and wounds that will still come so no more hiding, might as well get injured now than wait for the inevitable.
Music was so powerful once, it told stories of thousands while healing millions. Music ridiculed tablets; it became a cure to the soul and not just the body. Music was so indestructible; it made immortals seem like a walk in the park. Music was a fire that nothing could quench. Music was praise, no one was worthy but everyone wanted to have it.
Music stopped death but now suicide counts are reality and not fiction and there is nothing to heal them because music is no longer like it was in the days of old.
