Yesterday's failure
threatened to fail my Friday Fajr Jamaa'ah.
06:11
I was dead tired. I had good reason to be, but I was it a good enough reason to sleeping?
Heck, no, not even a little. I powered through the sleep and made it, got both rak'ataiyn, alhamdolillaah.
I squandered yesterday on more timesinks than I should have. It was more play and less work, and it just won't do, a recipe for regret, if ever there was one.
I will now begin using a timer, something like a Pomodoro method to help keep me on task and moderate my break times.
Additionally, my break-time activities need to be intentional and physical in nature, a real break from the screen. I will go and walk for five minutes or so on the powerless treadmill downstairs, simulating some kind of sled push. Doing this multiple times daily will definitely increase my daily step count and get me some much needed cardio.
Sounds like a plan, in-shaa-Allaah.

16:00, Yesterday.
We prayed Asr, and ate lunch.
17:00
The snow storm had calmed down, so I went out for a walk in the fresh snow with my mom.
The roads were unsalted, the cars were crawling at a literal snail's pace for fear of rear-ending the one in front, since the as-yet unsalted roads had turned into highly driftable hockey-rink ice.
We carefully crossed the road and went to the park. I scooped up a bunch of snow off the ground, compacting it between my mittenses, testing it for weapons-grade snowball capacity and readiness to deploy.
I launched it gently at my mother. Impact. Laughter. I made another. I gave it to my mom, then walked a few steps...
