The Mystery Mail- Part 1

The email he has received today is marked urgent. But it's from a friend who died two years ago! How is this possible? Eric died two years ago, on October 5, due to a gas explosion at his home.
I remember the incident so well as though it happened yesterday. That day, Eric and I were supposed to have our football practice after class. But, both of us felt too lazy and so we skipped practice and decided to go to the movies. We went to the theatre, and planned on watching a horror movie (though both of us freak out even at the smallest scary scene!). Trying to be all macho, we got the tickets and found our seats inside. But after half an hour, both of us completely freaked out and came out of the theatre (I'm still embarassed to recall that memory!). Having nothing else to do as the practice session would'nt have ended by then, we went to our respective homes.
Exactly one hour later, I got the news that there had been a major gas at his home. Since both his parents were at work, he was all alone. The explosion was so severe that the biggest body part that could be found was his thumb!
Till this date, I feel so guilty for convincing him to bunk the practice session. If alone he had been at the practice, he would still be alive. So, how can I receive an email from him, who is supposedly dead!
With shaky fingers, I opened the mail. Only two lines were written inside.
"I need your help, Mikey
Find me".
