That Strange Night
#WritcoStoryPrompt8
The picture in the frame held a lot of memories. Some good, some sad. Her tired eyes roamed over it one last time before she tossed it in the fire. It was time to start afresh. It was time to forget all the things that existed, all the things that she used to be. It was time to start a new chapter, not only in a new book but also on a new page.

As she tossed the frame in the fire, there was sadness as well as a relief in her heart. Relief that she had, at last, decided to move on but sad to leave those moments and move forward. She knew it would have been hard because that’s how everything’s always been in life. But she was still ready to face the hard slap of moving on and accepting the warm hug of the future. Maybe she would’ve burned that photo down to the ground but that doesn’t let her burn the memories flowing in her mind. She could still feel the damp air surrounding herself, making her go down into the memory lane. She tried not to explore more of that night, but she couldn’t. It keeps popping into her head, bouncing back and forth like she’s just a game for her own mind. She was the prisoner of her own mind, living in this free world. She let her mind go back to that day again, maybe this was the hundredth time she was listening to the same story.

She and Sarah were at the musical fest held in Mumbai for 3 days. They were enjoying their day, away from the daily same old 9-7 work job. She was happy. Her eyes were twinkling, her smile showed how she was on the seventh cloud while her feet were enjoying their own dance. It was the best day after years, you know after that accident that caused her mother to undergo paralysis. She was enjoying every bit of her days and clicked that picture to freeze that day and lock it inside a frame.

It was the last night of that wonderful event, they were waiting for the next singer to come on stage. Sarah went for some water, while she waited for her near that very stage. The singer appeared and people started pushing each other, to just hop up on stage and shake hands. She got away from there, away from the crowd. There were some tents located on the other side of the place, maybe for people to stay in for these 3 days. She sat there, out looking at the tents moving slightly in wind, gazing at the night stars. The soft music could still be heard from here. Suddenly there was something crawling under her feet, she got up scared and started running and lost her balance into the rock. The next thing she remembered, was waking up, inside someone’s strange tent, her purse near, clothes changed. She looked into the purse and found all the money gone.

What exactly happened that night?
