In the quaint town of East Derry, New Hampshire, nestled amidst rolling hills and whispering pines, young Alan Shepard's journey began. Born to Alan Sr., a fleet manager for a dairy company, and Pauline, a nurturing homemaker, Alan entered the world with eyes sparkling with curiosity. But his parents had different plans for him.
From an early age, Alan's heart yearned for the skies, drawn to the vast expanse above. However, his parents, rooted in tradition, had other aspirations for their son. They envisioned him taking over the family dairy and farm, continuing the legacy they had built.
Despite his parents' wishes, Alan's fascination with aviation only grew stronger with time. While other children tended to chores and learned the ways of the land, Alan's thoughts were consumed by tales of daring pilots and the allure of flight.
His parents, disappointed and disapproving, watched as their son's passion drifted further away from the life they had planned for him. They urged him to focus on the family business, to embrace his responsibilities on the farm, but Alan's dreams soared beyond the boundaries of their expectations.

He worked as a night watchman while studying during the day, eventually earning a place at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. There, Alan excelled both academically and athletically, laying the foundation for the remarkable journey that lay ahead.
