In the Beginning
Chapter IV
The silver moon peeked out from behind the trees and the stars twinkled down on Aithne. A small box was left in place of Alastair’s absence. Slowly, she opened the box and found the silver locket which resembled a miniature pocket watch. As she ran her fingers across the back of the watch, she heard a “click” and the and saw that the locket had popped open. Inside, there was an inscription that read, “To Aithne, the Fire Star who shall embark on this journey. Remember what I told you to do. Also, keep focused and be solo. -Alistair” Aithne snapped the locket closed and stuffed it in her pocket. As she thought about the message, she remembered the warning from the mysterious woman that appeared earlier. Fear started building up within her as the thought of her father’s sorrow, of when he was told that she died in combat. The thought was too much for her to bear. Although she wasn’t completely sure that all she had seen was real, she knew she would do whatever it took to see her family again. If what Alastair said...
