The life of a female dentist after marriage

The life of a woman is a series of multitasking jobs. She studies, takes care of her parents, has a career, gets married, takes care of her new family and also ensures to shape the future of her kids. In this entire cycle, her career can sometimes reach the pinnacle of success but majority of times, it takes a back seat. I’m happy to share this real ground bottom reality with everyone and overwhelming odds we face day in and day out in our personal and professional life. I know a few people would disagree with my views but I am also sure that many women dentist would agree with what I have to say
A woman dentist is considered successful if she has balanced her family and professional life.
Once women have entered a career path, they often encounter attitudes and practical obstacles to continuing or advancing in their careers. Those attitudes include insensitivity to gender, lack of female role models and mentors, dual family and professional responsibilities, lack of parity in rewards such as career advancement and salaries, gender discrimination and sexual harassment, lack of gender sensitivity, and special needs of minority women. There are many unique challenges that women dentists face in achieving professional excellence and this has been given little attention by the researchers
It is a fact that women dentists tend to juggle more in life than do their male colleagues. Let’s stop to think about that. Not only do these ladies have to handle the responsibilities of being somebody's doctor, they are quite likely managing the formidable contexts and responsibilities of being somebody's wife or significant other, life partner, housekeeper, cook, family caretaker, social secretary, and/or general runner-of-things. If they are one of the legions of women dentists with children, they are also handling the superhuman demands of being somebody's mother. Talk about "Mission Impossible!"
In general women have been forced to occupy a secondary place in relation to men in many ways. The constitution of India provides equal status with men but in reality women is discriminated in all fields of male dominated society. The women by nature has to undergo pregnancy, child birth etc reduces her physical strength to work and made her dependent gradually on men for protection and other requirements There has been considerable ambiguity in the role of women in the present Indian society. Education, socio-political movements, scientific and technological advancement, globalization have changed the attitude of people towards women to a certain extent. These developments have made women more independent and confident. Of late, people from different backgrounds have been expressing their opinions regarding the position of women in our society. Nevertheless, women are a significant part of not only the population but also in contributing to every sphere of life . These developments are mostly at individual levels in spite of social criticism, restrictions, customs and traditions. There is a need to redefine the status of women in getting empowerment with support of family members and society. In the modern society women empowerment has to begin with women’s active participation in all fields that are dominated by men. Having such background the present day women have evolved from primitive stage to break up the patriarchal society and occupied almost all the fields except few. Women have proved themselves in every field. Today women are a part of every profession, including the defense services, astronomy. In spite of such advancements by women, there is still a gender bias in all walks of life, and medical field is not an exceptional one. Women doctors have also been facing problems and challenges at the work places like women in other professions, such as denial of opportunities, lack of encouragement and support, make the women more discouraged and biased on gender issues causing imbalance in maintenance of pleasant environment at work place. In the society the women’s contribution and skills…etc were not recognition despite having skills, talent, commitment, dedication and hard work equal to men. Some problems are inherent to the respective professions and certain specific problems are unique to the women doctors. Challenges faced by women doctors are presumed to be different and complicated in the way of professional responsibilities, night duties, academics and administrative work. Major challenges faced by women doctors like maintaining the balance between their career development and lifestyle management. Women doctors are facing more strain to deal both as a woman and as well as a doctor.
"All women in the profession of dentistry are essentially facing the same challenges," "They are challenged by the commitment to their profession and the commitment to their families, and are striving for a balance, through appropriate time management, of adequate quality time with their families and patients. "Women are challenged by professional competition, the increased cost of business management and in getting the latest materials and equipments,"
One of the biggest challenges for women in dentistry is to summon their knowledge, intentions, and self-esteem to design their dental practices to match their needs and desires. Women dentists in particular are vulnerable to this mindset because they think that being a professional caregiver means they must be Mother Teresa. There is no reason why a woman dentist can’t trust her vision and values enough to want to be a financial success and accomplish it in a way that benefits her staff, patients, family, and everyone she touches. It isn’t always easy for women dentists to pull back on the nurturing. Nevertheless, security for your staff does not come from coddling them, but from giving them directions and goals with the freedom to choose to meet them or not. The most liberating leadership stand you can take for yourself and your team is to tell them, “This is what I need. This is what I’m getting. You are at a choice point.” Again, it can be difficult for female dentists to act assertively, especially if they have been conditioned by cultures around them to adopt the more traditionally feminine traits of being congenial and accommodating. It’s necessary for the woman dentist to feel comfortable with being extremely profitable and financially successful.
