sun & moon
"You are the moon and I am the sun," she said, while we lay on the bermuda grass. My forehead creased and asked her why.

"It's because everytime
one of us shines, the other
stood in the shadows,
silently looking out,"

I kissed her on the forehead, and held her closely.

"You are my star, then," I smiled.
"I am yours," you replied.

In that moment,
I felt like we own the whole
goddamn sky, controlling
every star to align us in
the universe.

But I realized she was right,
always have been.
I was indeed the moon, and she was the sun.
We may share the same sky, but we don't align,
never have been.
We were just two strangers meant to meet at an eclipse
but never to stay together.
