The Sober Drunk
#WritcoStoryPrompt30
For a timeless moment, he was suspended within the confines of his car. Then gravity took over with a force that sent the vehicle hurtling down the face of the ravine.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." His broken apology flew down with the blood spewing from his lips... From nowhere but everywhere was a bright light, a light beyond anything that he has ever seen. Thinking that it may have been the ambulance he tried to call out for them to help him, but pain of his crushed ribs held him like a vice grip made of pain. He mustered up the strength and cried out. As he cried out in anguish he saw a hand reach through the bright light. All of a sudden the taste of alcohol left his mouth, he was more sober than he had ever been, and all the pain just stopped. He thought he was dreaming because he was now looking down on his self, and all he could say was I'm sorry. It was then he realizes that he killed a toddler in a stroller and himself from drunk driving
