Mornings
I still remember the mornings you fetch us tea and smile over your cup across the room. You said it was beautiful, when you look into your briefcase, the day, but I got no appraisal. Just then, something skips and I get the jitsies. I stutter, stutter upon objects that fly out of my mouth and you laugh saying I was beautiful. On the wall, you drew the moon and the stars, narrating how each stroke of your brush has brought them to my feet. This is how we meet whenever I miss the blanket, to smile when your are no more .
