Blood Wars (Prt.1)
In the year twenty nineteen a new virus was discovered in Vampire Bat saliva. At first no one paid any attention to it, until it started to spread...
It quickly left Africa, and people began noticing a dramatic spike in what appeared to be vampire attacks, but as usual no one put much into it, until they started hunting in plane site, jumping from impossibly high places, crawling from the sewers, always dragging people back into the shadows. That's when the government stepped in.
Now no longer able to ignore these creatures, the United Nations put together a special military, officially dubbed Hunters, specifically trained to engage these creatures anywhere, anytime, and soon they began to deploy all over the world, killing hundreds, even thousands every month but by that point the vampire had established itself as the Apex predator of the world, and soon humanity could only keep their population in check by constantly running missions. How do I know this?
Well, because I am a Hunter.
My name is Dillon, and this is my story..

Northern Siberian Forrest
This was my first mission ever, and I was terrified beyond belief or reason. I was fresh out of basic, if you can call it that, and they made sure to make it perfectly clear how dangerous these things are.
"For every one of them we kill, they kill or turn two of us", our Drill Sergeant repeated over and over again in our classes, even showing pictures of the damage they can do to the human body.
Many dropped out right then and there, mind you we were selected from different SP groups from militaries all over the world, hardened worries it took a lot to shake like that, so that should make it clear how terrifying these things are. I was a rare case where I showed potential early, so instead of being thirty or forty, I was only just turning twenty-one, which did make it difficult but I had a good group of men and women with me who were already veterans in this war so it wasn't so bad.
"Twenty minutes to LZ", the pilot said over the COMs.
"Roger that", our team commander Srgt.Gregor replied.
We checked our gear, and soon felt the helecopter begin to decent quickly before hovering twenty feet above a clearing. The side doors opened and we emmediatly dropped our ropes and slid down to the forrest floor without a sound outside of the rotar-blades. As soon as we touched down we began moving north to a remote mining camp/prison that nobody heard from except for two prisoners who escaped and emmediatly alerted the cops who then told the military, who then went to investigate that a nest had infact been established. Once they had a secure perimeter set up, they contacted the UN and after thirty seconds of paperwork my team was selected and deployed to deal with the creatures. Now, there wasn't any really special way to kill a vampire, that whole "has to be the heart" is bullshit, and so is the "only drinking blood" idea. They do eat the meat, but the ALSO drink the blood because they need as much iron as possible for the insane amount of muscles they have in their bodies. You can kill them any way you can kill a regular person, however they are extremely suspectable to fire, so we always have incindiary rounds and at least one flamethrower when we go on these missions but also two magazines of regular ones just incase.
We soon arrived at the mine and emmediatly entered, the Russian troops that I'm guessing were part of Alpha Group (an elite Russian SOF unit) stepping aside with a curt nod of acknowledgement before following behind me since I was in the back. Usually we don't work with the militaries of other countries unless it's a all out attack, but Russia was adimat that Alpha be part of this mission as a training optertunity so reluctantly the UN agreed.
"So, how long have you been a Hunter?", a female soldiers asked me.
"First mission actually", I admitted shyly.
"Same with me. Are you scared?", she asked, and I'm sure I picked up a hint of anxiety in her voice.
"Honestly, yeah. But these guys I'm with are veteran Hunters and I know you guys and gals are true bad asses as well, so I'm confident everything will be fine", I replied which seemed to reasure her a bit.
Eventually we got close to the mine entrance, and we swapped over to our UV lights as we began our decent into the Earth. As we entered we emmediatly came to a fork in the tunnel system, so Gregor broke us up into teams of four.
"Sarah, you take Collins, and the first two A-team members down the right", he stared pointing to me and the two soldiers behind me, "Simmons, me, and the other two with go left. Engage anything that's not human. If you get overwhelmed retreat back hear and blow the tunnel. If we don't come out, blow ours too to prevent a breach. Clear?".
"Clear", she replied before ordering me to set up C4 all along the ceiling infront of both running openings which I did so with haste. The soon we got out this over with the sooner we can go...
