The Slime (Comic 6)
"So, thankfully Lily's family owns a karate school besides her dad being a great and well-known doctor." Lily was a woman they were in psych 101 with back in college. She was very beautiful, Jackson and Dirk even had an argument over her one day too, arguing about who should ask her out.
"Why do you think she will help us train? She doesn't even talk to us anymore! Not after..." When Jackson and Dirk met Billy, and he became their friend, Lily started to notice them more then. The question and argument Dirk and Jackson had about who should ask her out, was only months ahead of when they should have had it. Now Billy, their new friend, was crazy for her too. Since the last argument, Dirk and Jackson vowed they'd not ask her out, no matter what. But since Billy came after that, he had free range and didn't count on that agreement. He soon had asked her out and Lily became part of their little friend group. But when Billy died, she drifted away from them.
“Because for her to do us a favor, we do her a favor.” He pulls out an envelope from his pocket.
“Is that Billy’s handwriting? Dirk asked, looking down at it while keeping his eyes on the road.
“Yeah, I just never could take it to her, without bringing out emotions. I still feel guilty for Billy’s death.”
“Jackson, we’ve been through this, it wasn't your fault, it was some stupid drunk driver.”
“I know but if I had taken another way that night, who knows.”
“Destiny is a bitch, and it can lead us to things that we don't want to do or have things done to us, but that’s just destiny. Sadly.” Dirk said, the car started to get quiet. How was Jackson going to be seeing Lily, how will he be seeing Lily? There were so many questions floating around his head the last several months, he was grateful that Janice was understanding, after all she did want him to train, so when he told her he was going to see an old college friend to help him train, she was happy, but wasn't happy who it was. She knew there wasn't anything there, just wasn't happy it was someone who had an attraction for him once in college.
“Let's go to a motel and get some rest for the night.” Jackson said, breaking the silence. Dirk agreed, they pulled into a motel, they got the key and checked in, they both took a shower and now we're both relaxing in their own beds in their boxers and a t-shirt, watching some old television show on the tv. Both not even mentioning the pain of them being back in this town. The loss of a friend. They both decided it was time to sleep, being one-thirty in the morning.
The next morning, they woke up to sunlight seeping in through the curtain of the motel room.
“This is the day, the day to see Lily again after all these years. I messaged her last night and she agreed to see us this morning for breakfast. She told us about this place in town to meet her. I guess it's a new diner.” They got out of bed, got around for the day, and checked out of the motel, both still yawning and waking up.
By the time they arrived at the diner, it was quiet, not many people coming in or out, and most certainly didn't look like it was busy. As they got out of the car to walk in, they arrived at the door and heard a blood curdling scream that made them both look at each other and made them run into the diner. What was about to happen would cause Dirk to test his new profound powers and save Lily from a life threatening disaster.
