My mystery solved
I wake with an urgency.. Out of breath, like I had been running, and I can feel my heartbeat pounding like the beat of a drum. I sit up in bed to try to collect my thoughts. Silently, I say to myself..Where am I ? I look around me, nothing looks familiar. In in a bedroom, but I know this is not my bedroom. It's neat and tidy , but very masculine looking. Everything in this room was some sort of brown color. From the pictures on the walls to the sheets and comforter on the bed, all browns. Light brown leather recliner in one corner of the room. Tan and dark brown side table with a chess set on it , which was brown marble, and a mini bar set up which of course was dark brown. Anyway, I'm getting off the subject. Putting my hand to my head, as if it would stop the headache and give me answers all at once. Not. Okay so let's backtrack. My name is Angelica Evans, 26 yr old single mother of one amazing 4 year old. Blonde hair (bleached, not natural), hazel eyes, great butt and nice figure, if I do say so myself. Career? Well, that's iffy, I'm a waitress at a great well known restaurant, no future but great money. I love my job. Absolutely love the people I meet. I am a talker, to say the least, and we'll I do my best to make each one of my customers feel special, if only in a small way, to see them smile. There I go again, getting off the subject at hand. WTF? Where am I and why and who is behind this????
Stay calm Angel (my nickname) and think. I remember waking at home and getting Desiree on the pre K bus. I remember Calvin spent the night and made coffee this morning before he left. Jeez was he a looker! And sex was always great and he was not clingy, which I loved. Thats when I draw a blank.
I look out the one huge window and see sun shining. Looks like maybe around 10 am or so. I slide my legs out from the covers to stand and realize I am woozy and not steady on my feet. Like I had taken too much Nyquil and woke to foggy head and off balance.
I scan the room again and notice beautiful yellow roses in a glass vase with an envelope attached. I walk over and open the envelope. It says "My dear friend, I hope you accept my kindness as repayment for the many of mornings you put a smile on my face. Truly, you are a very special lady, with the gift of gab. Your words have encouraged me throughout the past 4 years and I thank you for your service and your friendship. Also in the envelope was a check for $25,000.
Signed by Robert Perdoque. Addressed to me. He was paying it forward. Someone had shown him kindness and he was , in turn , giving back. I was crying happy tears now. I unfolded the small note from Robert. The words on the paper were simple. They read "One person can make all the difference....You did."
Moral of my story is.....
Don't be so quick to judge or to expect the worst. There are honest kind people put there.
Later that afternoon, at work, everyone filled me in, I had slipped and fell coming around the corner, and Robert had taken me to the ER and paid the hotel so I could rest until time to pick up my daughter.
Never ever will I forget the selfless love and kindness given to me so freely that day. Don't give up one minute before your miracle!!
