Lesson #338 Choose your battles
The "entitlement mindset" sure strikes a nerve with me. Out of my book of lessons and stories, I have one very favourite story which I love sharing with my near and dear for them to learn what they should not be. I think I may even share it with my future kids.
Earlier this year I had met a woman, pleasant to the eye, middle-aged who at first, came across as "nice".
Who, may I add, (I know, I am always adding) came to me first, she asked for my number first. She was piqued after asking me, "what do you do?" You know the entitlement, "can I do it too?".
Well, aren't we all nice when we want something?
In summary, she became fairly acquainted with me as she wanted to sign up for a service I offer.
A master at playing the card of sympathy.
"I am divorced, I have a young daughter who has special needs, please help me."
Me, of course being the very naive, "wear my heart on the sleeve" and very dim kind of person, decided to go all out to help this woman.
"Please come over, I'll help you", Hell I'll even do your "mock interview" for you.
I do agree, I am as thick as two short planks - sometimes I do lack common sense.
You need the job to make money for yourself but I shall gallantly...
