The Strange Incident

"The footsteps following me sounded closer. I ran through the empty corridors of the hospital, my heart pounding with terror.
I turned a corner and stopped short. I had reached a dead end. I was terrified at the thought of turning around .As I stopped , the footsteps were no longer following me , but as far as I was aware , the footsteps stopped right behind my back. I reminded myself that if I don't turn around and run for my life ,then that night could very well be my last in this world ."
He abruptly stopped his narrative and started coughing loudly .The nurse provided the man with a glass of water . The man , the narrator of this very story came along as a chaperone with Mr. Jones , a patient who was facing several heart problems and recently had a cardiac arrest . After treatment doctors suggested that Mr.Jones should be discharged only after a week's time .Two days passed without anything serious and his chaperone was taking good care of him.But on the third day the chaperone , Dan had an encounter which made him sick for nearly three days.After he was perfectly fine , a local reporter who was covering the news of haunted encounters came to visit him and to know if there was any paranormal activity in that very hospital .
Dan continued with his narrative after a moment or so ,"I turned my head around , gradually closing my eyes so that I don't get a heart attack . When I turned back , I opened my closed eyes slowly and then what I saw was simply unbelievable . I saw footsteps , of man or devil I doubt . But as soon as I discovered that I was safe , I passed out and fell on the floor , unconscious . " "The next thing I saw when I regained consciousness was that I was being stretchered off for treatment and then again I became unconscious .",he said . Then Dan was examined by the doctor and after taking the required medicines he became perfectly fine . Doctors say that his condition and sickness was due to the shock he received the other day. Doctors claim that his story is fictitious and that believe that the whole situation was created by his own mind and there is no such thing in the hospital. The reporter was reluctant to accept the Doctor's opinion but he couldn't cover the story as well because of insufficient proof . The mystery behind the incident is still obscure as the only witness to the situation other than Dan , the CCTV cameras failed to capture anything at that time and it was reported by the security that the cameras were mysteriously turned off during the midnight without manual control . The security officials suggest that there must have been some errors with the CCTV cameras and there was a need to replace them with new ones.
