THAT MAN ON THE STATION
It was a winter night, which year I don't remember.....I was sitting on Raurkela Station waiting for the arrival for the down train. It was a starry cold night and the platform was almost empty. I saw some beggars sitting in one corner of the station wrapped in their torn shawls. It was a full moon but my apetite was not letting me enjoy the view. There was no sign of my train. I stood up and went to the ticket counter to find out, the damn train was running an hour late. I was thinking about taking a cab when suddenly I saw a tall, slim, handsome man approaching towards me. He said,'Hello mister, are you waiting for the down train....?'. The man had a deep voice and had a gravity within which forced me to answer him in the most kind manner,'yes, are you also waiting for that damn train.....well I asked in the tricked counter, the train is a hour late in that meantime I can definitely accompany you....heh heh.' The man sat beside me and in that due time we talked to know everything about each other. His name was Subikash Bagchi, he was an author though couldn't make even enough for his own survival. He was an bachelor and was not going to marry as he was already 46. Now he was returning home, after selling his story in Raurkela publishings. I also told almost every in short to him, that how I was having economical problems to educate my daughter. Then we see the train approaching. I jumped up inside the train but the Bagchibabu stayed on the platform. I shouted towards him,'get up fast, it will not stand any longer.'He looked at me in an expressionless way and threw me something and.....like melted into the air. I looked at the thing in my hand........a sum of atleast 100000 in an envelop on which it was written....start a business.
