Polythene Bags
Polythene bags or plastic bags are posing a great hazard to our environment. Their use is increasing day by day because they are cheaper and lighter than other packing materials. They are thrown away with the other household litre after they have been used.But the trouble with the polythene bags is that while all other litre is biodegradable, plastics never decay. When dumpped on the ground, they give a very dirty look. Very harmful pests and germs can germinate in the heap and spread diseases. Plastic spoil the fertility of the soil also. They can choke the sewerage and kill bacteria which breaks down the sewage into harmless substances. They contaminate the water of seas, rivers and lakes. Then the fish and other water animals begin to die. So the use of polythene bags should we banned by law. Heavy fines should be imposed on those who manufacture them are used them. This can prove a big step in solving the problem of pollution.
