Story of Cadaver
'Story of Cadaver'
Chapter 02
(Guest arrival)
Morning class,
First period of starting day was of anatomy, and professor of anatomy started to give introduction classes of anatomy lecture. While lecture was in busy teaching, my thoughts were humming around cadaver dissection, and when professor was about to end class, said to all students that 'students, we are bringing new cadaver which is donated by great person!'.
After hearing these words from my professor, my mind has already found another question to ask, i heard of eye donation, kidney donations, etc but didn't even heard of body donation. What's body donation actually it is? And didn't waited much to find answers myself and i without wasting time, i asked professor about it. And sir was so kind and
Started to explain that 'after death, if person wants to pledge his body for study of medical students like you all'.
After listened this my curiosity about dissection has increased to several folds now.
Entry into dissection hall:
Finally my impatient waiting for dissection hall was got an end. And i entered into dissection hall for very first time with all the curious and question full of mind.
As i stepped into hall, sounds of exhaust fan and noise of deep freezer where body were kept making our alien environment bit familiar and we are getting used to it as hour getting passed.
Room was brightly illuminated with natural sun light and soothing air circulated within hall, making us comfortable to stay long.
Professor instructed us to read first 48 pages of Cunningham {it's dissection mannual book, contain highly standardised dissection method which rarely completed in any students life, that's fun fact i guess.)
And we all are started to gather around our designated donated cadaveric body, and with least interest of peeping into Cunningham, and started to read. Everyone was so excited to know about dissection and by the time we spent some time, our eyes getting congested red causing painful, and nose getting stuffed. Later get to know that, they are side effects of formaline for newbies (a preservative).
We struggle managing to stand for 2-3 weeks to make friendship with formaline. And we finally made it.
And information and details about cadaver donation are concealed, no one would tell about it.
He's just stranger to us,
But great teacher to us,
And He only teaches us,
(Dissection is place where dead teaches life/live)
But we are in so curious that, we finally made way to ask our professor about that great person who did this great donation.
But professor initially refused to reveal the details about person, said it's confidential and cannot be revealed. But tried our best to convince and to get to know about that great person.
Our professor after detailed enquiry with relatives of person and taking their permission and consent, finally agreed to share with us!
Sir started to narrating story of cadaver,
"students, the person around which you all are surrounding and curious about, is one of greatest, finest surgeon our nation has witnessed, who performed many complicated procedures, who saved countless numbers of lives, and helped many people, wrote many books, trained many future surgeon/physicians, taught lakhs of medical students like you, and still teaching even after death by his novel works and deeds!".
After listening, I'm exclaimed, surprised, with lots of thoughts hitting my mind, many questions with curious child, listening every bit and phrases of professor about surgeon!
