Ancient Forest: Part-4
After rescuing the fairies from the orkish raiding party and returning to the fort, Drake was summoned by the winged queen. Upon meeting her with her escorts, the queen was grateful to him and the empire for saving her people. She would go on to request that the young warrior would return to what remained of their home, to retrieve a ceremonial gift for empress Ragnhild. Drake was worried that the gift was destroyed by the fires, but the fairy-queen reassured him that it was protected by ward spells that were still active.
Drake would except this task and be accompanied by one of his fellow Ivorborin elvish-brethren to the remains of "First Haven". Egil would teleport himself and drake back to the smoldering haven to retrieve the gift. The morning star began to drift towards the west, the wind would stir a mighty gust, and the two warriors would split up to search among the rubble and burnt structures.
Within the ruined grand halls, a silver circlet with a green gem at the center covered by a ward spell. Egil removed the ward and went ahead of drake to present Ragnhild with the circlet. Drake would begin his travel back to the fort.As he moved further in the Forest, Drake began to notice that he was being watched by a mysterious figure. A being cloaked in a robe and mask continued to follow him, until the young warrior stopped to confront the being.
Upon removing it's mask, a beautiful blonde-haired woman reviealed herself to him, as tears began to fall from his face. A brief battle between the two occured, with the lady placing her mask back on to take the form of a middle-aged man with black-short hair. The being drew forth a clever to attack drake with, nearly cutting his arm off, Drake kicked the man back and marveled in disbelief.Just then the being placed it's mask back on and took the form of a cloaked figure with a scythe and the face of a black-haired man with a tear falling from his eye and slowly approached him.
The two engaged once more with the figure beating drake in their confrontation while giggling and humming a haunting tune. Drake re-awoke in the fort in a medical barrack. His mind in shock of what occured with his confrontation with the myterious being. As his master and fellow warriors asked him what happened, only the word, "Masquerade" left is tongue.
