when I write
When I write,
I feel like Superman with a
Gun in his hand
Spewing out bullets of pain,
Despair and,
Uncomfortability
But I feel invincible and with the pencil in my hand,
A nascar race inside my head with my thoughts being the drivers,
It’s uncontrollable and I get the urge to grab the gun and end my life because I’m worthless and mean nothing to nobody but when I pick up my pencil and my thoughts start racing,
I am the most indestructible force known to mankind
I am,
Superman
You see?
I’ve picked up a knife,
Once or twice,
Thinking it would help me escape the slavery of abuse and neglect I’ve endured throughout the years
Waking up to a bullhorn screaming and shouting in my ear,
Ridiculing me every time I’d do something wrong but in the same sentence,
Telling me to stand up,
Stop crying and be strong
I’d play chicken in the street because I wanted to die
I’d tread carefully so my mouth wouldn’t end up on my neck and I could live to see another day pass me by but in reality,
I wanted to die and the more I cried, the more I tried and the more I tried,
Eventually,
I died
I died on the inside and my soul left my body without even giving a two weeks notice
My heart started to beat a little slower and my lungs had gotten a little weaker
But just when I thought my life was over and I couldn’t stand on my own two feet anymore
I was robbed
I was robbed of every depressing feeling I had ever felt,
I was robbed of every welt on my legs and back from the belt hitting my skin and every tear I had every cried and for the first time since I was born,
I felt alive
When I write,
My pain goes away and I’m a God amongst writers and poets in my own write but I still write because to write is to be humble and to be humble is to write,
Admitting humility
When I write,
I am a force to be reckoned with and I wouldn’t dare anyone to stand in my way with anything negative to say or trying to ruin my day because the pen is mightier than the sword and my words are stronger than your insecurities
So,
Take as many shots as you want
But don’t do it,
