Labour Party suspends national treasurer, Oluchi Opara



The Labour Party has suspended its national treasurer, Oluchi Opara for six months, over failure to appear before the disciplinary committee for trial.


The action followed Monday outburst by the national treasurer, Oluchi Opara alleging that the national chairman, Julius Abure misappropriated funds raised from the 2023 elections.



At a briefing in Abuja, the national publicity secretary, Obiora Ifoh said the decision was taken by the national executive council through the NWC, following the recommendations from the disciplinary committee.



He explained that the party realized only 1.2 billion naira against the the 3.5 billion naira claim by the national treasurer.





Oluchi Opara is the fifth executive officer undergoing suspension in the labour party since November 2022.


Members previously suspended have formed a splinter group against party and the suspended members are: deputy national chairman Lamidi-Bashir Apapa, national legal adviser, akingbade oyelekan, national publicity secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, and youth leader, Anslem Aragbe
