Changin’-
I vividly remember how you looked at me that day.
Your eyes had a certain depth that if someone didn’t know you well, they wouldn’t have noticed.
But I did.
Of course I would.
Did you think I wouldn’t?
Why would you think that?
HOW could you think that?
I know you like the back of my hand.
At least I thought I did.
You thought you knew me as well, right?
Of course you did, it’s what everyone thinks when they connect with someone so deeply.
It’s what we believed when we cared for each other so greatly.
It’s what we hoped.
It’s what held us together.
Until that day. The day that we realized we weren’t meant to be.
That in the end, we are as inconsistent as the changing of the tides, and just posing like mannequins in a room restraining the fabrics of reality and outsiders.
That we’re only human.
