A new broom sweeps well
This was the subject Manjula sharma madam gave me in a tutorial class which I remember till date.
She knew well that the broom will sweep well only when the sweeper is well skilled. Only new broom does not do that and so she used to go to every seat to check the assignments and to understand our tight handness in english( matlab vo jan ne ki koshik karti thi ki ham kitne paani me hain aur sudhar ki kya gunjayas ha). There I remember two professors of English in RECK one Mr KB Singh, who was a perspiring( matlab mere pasine nikalte the samane jane se) personality for me to face . He used to teach the phonetics and talked about the dictionary of "Oxford advanced learnes" that never came to my head and I used to stare at him like a goat sees towards falling leaves from a tree in hope of satisfying the hunger but which never fruition.
[ ] Another professor was Mrs. Manjula sharma , "inspiring personality for hindi medium students" like me and wanted to hone their english skills through her tutorials.There was always words of encourage from her in all situations and she used to give interesting topics and used to check the para specially from point of view of grammar and ability of expression of thoughts.
In tutorials I always was used to sit on back benches with Jay Raman & Bhupath. But in her tutorials was not such case.
Though my interaction with her was limited upto class only as I was not having any extra curricular activities that time. But going through posts of various friends it is learnt that she was an all rounder professor with skills like editorial, writing, good oratorship etc. She was a good mentor to all her students too. She left us yesterday but will continue to live in our thoughts throughout our lives.
I pay my hearty respects to the noble soul and pray the mighty for eternal peace to her. Whatever I can write in my rough and unrefined english ( tuti- futi english) today , I owe a lot to her. Jo kuch mai nhi seekh paya usme mera hi dosh ha madam ke prayas me koi kami nhi thi.
