The Dream World- A wish granting factory!
#WritcoStoryPrompt5
The diamond necklace on the mannequin looked familiar. She placed her palm on the window that separated them and leaned in, looking at the purple stones embedded with shinning diamonds. Breathing in the polluted air of the dusty city she kept on wondering about the dream she woke up to. Her mother used to say that she was always a curious child from the beginning, asking questions with her big eyes and small face. She’s not around anymore, it’s just her there alone and her father who remains out of the house mostly for work.

She once again let her thoughts follow back to the dream of a necklace attired by a mannequin. She knew she had seen it somewhere, she knew she had been there sometime too. Maybe in another dream. But why does the story keep on moving forward every time she sleeps again, as in it’s trying to say something? As soon as she sleeps, another world awakes, and when she wakes up that world sleeps again. It all works simultaneously. The dream is just like the wish-granting factory one could wish for. Fresh air, more trees, pure water, and happy faces living in a happy world. Once you open the newspaper all you could read is a heading saying “THIS YEAR WE FOUND ANOTHER HUMAN HELPING A MAN IN NEED.” And another, “MOTHER EARTH LIVING THE BEST LIFE POSSIBLE!” Not the ones we read here stating cases of rapes, kidnapping, mortality rate, or how we have polluted Earth and crying about how polluted it is.

It’s a world where people are not judged for their actions. Where everyone has their right to say and do things. There are no disputes or competitions for proving you are the best because everyone there has their own talent and is best among themselves. Their men do not worry about crying in public as both genders are believed to have emotions that could be expressed by tears without being mocked. Their boys could play with dolls and girls with cars. People could stay out late on roads without fear. People do not just advise each other to do things but they do that themselves. There’s nothing known as jealousy at exists in that world. There are no rich and poor, upper or middle class; there are just people. People who live together in peace and harmony, accepting each other and the things they have been given. People who protect and provide nature just like it protects and provides us.

She keeps on thinking and thinking and thinking about that necklace as she does all her daily chores. Does that mean her dream world really exists? Or was it just her mind playing tricks on her?
