The break down (incomplete)
The dispatcher could not believe what she heard. She was told that there was a disturbance at the courthouse. She was told that the judge had gone berzerk.at first, the dispatch thought it was a prank but she heard the guns of the commotion. She sent all nearby units to proceed. Of course, more came in.
There was little information to go on. The police had heard the judge had gone nuts. Witnesses said that there were no finds involved but the police were not going to take any chances. The members of the local town police were the first to respond. They went inside.
The courthouse entrance was empty. There was no one. They followed the noise. It led then to the courtroom. The judge was screaming at the tip of her lungs. She was saying almost incoherent things. She was rambling on and on about injustice. She was talking about mythical creatures. It was hard to believe that the women speaking this were prominent members of the judicial community. She was a key figure in the area.
She was a rags-to-riches story. Her mom got pregnant with her when she was still in high school. Her boyfriend wanted nothing to do with the baby. Her family urged her to abort the baby. She decided to keep the child. Her parents kicked her out.
She gave birth to Rebecca while at a group home for young pregnant women. She got into government housing. Her mom got a job and eventually got on her feet.
Rebecca was a smart child. She showed promise at a young age. She excelled all through school. She was bright. She got good grades. Her teachers took a liking to her.
She was interested in the law from a young age. She wanted to be a lawyer. That interest stuck with her. She never left that desire. She researched legal cases. She watched trials. In high school, she got a job cleaning a lawyer's office. She became close with the lawyer. He was an older man. She was the same age as some of his granddaughters.
She graduated from high school. She graduated first in her class. She had won essay contests. She was part of young scholars' groups. She scored very high on her standardized testing. She got accepted to several universities including her first choice. She majored in political science. She served in student government. She got a job running the campus bookstore. She got good grades. She maintained a 4.0 g.p.a.
She graduated first in her class and enrolled in law school. She got her Juris doctor. Not bad for the daughter of a single mom who dropped out of high school. She was admitted to the bar. She worked alongside the lawyer she once worked for.
She mostly did knucklehead cases at first. She did the second chair of a few prominent cases. She started to get noticed.
She was recruited to join the district attorney's office. She went up the ranks and became an executive assistant district attorney. She was an up-and-comer. The sky was the limit. She was appointed to the bench. She could keep going.
She had a reputation for being tough bit fair. She was known for her impartiality. She was even-keeled. She was committed to following the law and established procedures. She tried to be dispassionate. The thought of her having a mental breakdown in open court was unthinkable.
She showed no sign of mental duress. At least not in her professional life. No one who worked for her or who worked with her would have guessed that this would happen. If someone predicted this, they would have been dismissed as being crazy.
The day started like a normal day. Rebecca gave court into session. There was a jury selection for an upcoming trial. Then there was a series of motions in an upcoming case. There was no sign of anything wrong. She was her normal self.
