KINGS AND TIGERS.
Over the years the Tiger population in India has been on the decline for several reasons.Earlier Rajas would shoot them for trophies to be displayed proudly in tbeir living rooms.
Animal protection law in India were weak to start with, which meant that very little was done to stop poachers from hunting tigers down for the skin and teeth.Thankfully about fifty years ago the laws changed and National parks were protected under the project Tiger Initiative. This was a great step towards keeping tigers safe and helping their population grow.

More than 70%of the Bengal Tigers live in the jungles of India. But if you count them there are omly 2,800.Even though our country is huge and we have so many dense jungles and forests ,perfect for tigers to live in,the population is very low.Tiger nails ,bones and skin are sold forca lit of money, making them more vulnerable to poaching.By visiting the National Parks, which have tigers, visitors add to the money generated,so guards can be hired, more research can be done and the tiger population can slowly be increased.

TIGER QUEEN is a film directed by Subbiah Nalla Muthu. The movie is a tribute to Machhali's life, her brave fights and how she helped the Ranathambore region attract a lot of visitors. The filmmaker spent nine years of his life studying and filming the life of this Tigress.
