"And I will always love you. Forever".
Instead of declaring my love for him, I ask, "Forever? Do you believe in that?"
"Yes. Don't you?" He looks hurt.
"Forever is fleeting, but love, yes, that is everlasting".
I expect him to argue. But he pulls me close and plants a kiss on my nose. "Well, then. I'll just love you". Searching my eyes he asks, "Is that better?"
"And I'll love you." I smile looking into his eyes wishing he sees what he's looking for.
