The Last Night
#WritcoStoryChallenge
The streetlights were dim as the mist enclosed it in its mysterious grip. She peered out of her window into the darkness, was there someone out there or was it her imagination?
It was 7 then. But clouds were dense and black. The evening looked like a black hole explosing a silhouette of something or someone. Priya looked perplexed with her naive soul thundering up and down her motal body.
While she was lost in the shudder of something inhuman, something strange, her mobile vibrated on the glass center table. She felt as if someone shaked the hell out of a her with a sudden thrust. She picked the phone up to see it was her boyfriend Ratul.
Hello! Hey, wassup girl. Have you completed the documentary?
Ratul, Ratul, I am scared. I am feeling nervous.
Hey Hey Priya, What happend dear? Why are you so restless? Ratul, I can smell something. I am not alone in this house. She is back.
What nonsense Priya? Have you lost it? She is no more. We have send her to her destination.
No Ratul, I have seen her shadow. I have heard her breathe. I have felt her presence.
Ok listen to me. Relax girl. You hold on. I will be reaching your apartment in another half an hour.
Ratul, please come fast. I am dying in aghast.
Give me some time baby. Bye.
The phone hanged.
Priya kept her cell back on the table. And just then, something passed through the corridor into the dark hallway. She was terribly scared but gained some guts to stumble towards the caliginous hallway. Shhh!! a cold whisper brushed through her ears. She felt a gust of chilled air penetrating her soul.
She searched for the switchboard to put on the lights of the hall but to her surprise the lights didn't turn on. She turned back to discover, there was no power. Even the invertor seemed out of order. She felt waves of jitteriness through her arteries and veins. Her adrenaline rushed in utter chaos through her mystified blood stream.
Just then, she heard her phone to vibrate again. Somehow in the clench of impenetrable darkness she reached the living room to pick up the phone.
It was an unknown number. Hello! Hello, madam, we are calling from Santacruz Police Station. There was a dead body we found at the Worli sea link a couple of minutes back. It seems to be a car accident. We retrieved the cell phone and found your number in the recent call log. Can you please come down to the police station to certify the deceased person?
Priya felt a numbness all throughout her body and soul. As if the earth refused to support her feet anymore.
The phone slipped and fell down from her extremely weak palms on to the marble floor.
She heard another whisper. Priya, do you remember. It was a rainy night. I was waiting for the bus at the bus stop. What did I ever do to harm you bitch? Your boyfriend wanted sugary favours from me and also promised to marry me. But you, being a girl, never felt the pain of a girl. You conspired along with your innocent boyfriend to murder me in the silence of the night.
You disposed off my body in the deepness of the sea.
But poor girl. I am back.Yes, you felt right. I am Natasha. I have already killed your love and now its your turn.

The next morning, police discovered the dead body of Priya Agarwal from her flat in Bandra.
