Change is automatic, not a choice.

During my training session, the question was asked,
"Why do we think some people are resistant to change?"

A bunch of response poured into the chat box.

My response was that some people simply want stability or sometimes they are not given the vision, or they haven't been made aware of the benefits of the change.

Another response was, some people are afraid of the unknown.

Another, some people are happy where they are.

Another, some people are boring or lazy.

But then, as expected, someone mentioned the good old comfort zone.

I know I always bring the comfort zone into my posts but it's because it's been such a blocker for me and for so many people I know - comfort feels safe.
The unknown seems unsafe.
What you don't know, can't hurt you right?

But what if staying where you are actually didn't keep things the same?

What if, by staying where you are, you are actually moving backwards?

And slowly, your comforts simply stop serving safety and security?

Or if the were taken from you?

Change sounds a lot more appealing now.

Without an adoption of change, without offering change your attention, a good listening ear, and an open mind, you forfeit energy that could be used productively to serve you.

And so, it's better to not only welcome change, but to seek change out and get comfortable with it.

Inevitably, change happens, like it or not.

The trick is to redefine change as your comfort zone. Face the unknown often enough, prepare yourself to expecte and manage anxiety, reassuring yourself along the way that you can handle it and stop telling yourself you can't. Be careful about how you talk to yourself.

Change is your opportunity, your progress, your happiness.

Embrace your new found comfort zone.
