MY LAST TIME WITH AUNT MELDS
I was ascending upstairs in the staircase of my aunt's beautiful mansion ostentatiously, scratching my head in search of the most conciliatory tone I could use to convince her over withdrawing malevolent duties from me. My emotions had already been pervaded by lachrymose. I couldn't relax as I imagined the opulence I would garner if she would give in to my plea.
I was now standing a few inches away from the doorway of her study room. Fright dominated my senses as I thought how she might treat me with her usual exasperation. I could play my cards well if she gave me her attention,I assured myself as I knocked gently on the wooden door three times.
"Come in, the door is open," a recognizable feminine voice boomed from inside. I tilted the knob and the door gave way, ushering me into a well furnished room. Aunt Melds was seated behind an enormous table, examining something using her lenses.
"Good afternoon Aunt Melds!" I offered my greetings, still standing near the doorway.
"What do you want?" Aunt Melds asked, her eyes still fixed on the lenses. Her voice sounded as usual, full of grandiloquence. I struggled to gain confidence, ready to open up and tell her what she deserved to be told.
"I am fed up and tired of these activities aunty. I have therefore decided to quit from your company and travel to the Rift valley," I said. She rose her face from what she was examining and glared at me. Her eyes had chastened as if what I had said didn't go through her ears well. I realized that the news were shocking to her, as much as she tried to hide it by a grin on her pretty face.
"Have a seat!" she uttered, ushering me into a comfortable leather couch which faced her table. I sat down, unruffled...
