THE CROSS
It was a normal bright afternoon when Nana Yaw and Nana Yaa came back from the farm.
Agyeiwaa their mum and Nana Yaa noticed Nana Yaw has not been of himself since morning so
they sat him down to know what the problem was. He then told them about the dream he had. After
telling them the dream, they understood why he felt that way. He later told his twin sister to
accompany him to go see Father Augustus the only man of God they knew in their village.
Late afternoon that same day there was a knock on Father Augustus door. He opened the day door
to see Nana Yaw and Nana Yaa. He welcomed them in. After hearing about the dream, he told
them about the history of the village. About hoe Takyi (their father) and some other village youth
went out in search of the cross, in order to save the village from their predicaments and heal the
land. Nana Yaa now got to know why she didn’t really know her father. Father Augustus told Nana
Yaw that it was his turn to go into the dark forest to bring the cross to the village to be saved and
healed.
When they got home, they told their mum about what Father Augustus told them, which got her
sad and beseeched Nana Yaw from going into the dark forest to seek the cross. This kept Nana
Yaw thinking all night. It took his twin sister to talk to him out of it before he could sleep.
The following day, Nana Yaw and Nana Yaa went out to meet their best friends Benewaa...
