The Waves
"Don't you want to wait here before walking away?" Raj immediately turned sideways to find out who was speaking. He saw a lady in her late 20s in a red salwar with simple ponytail hair sitting on a rock and looking at waves splashing on the shore.
He looked around to see if anyone else was there. "I'm asking you only." The lady reminded him. "Yes, but how do you know my intentions?" Raj inquired. "Because I have seen you here numerous times," she replied. "But I haven't seen you before," Raj stressed. "That's because you keep looking at the waves, ignoring everyone passing through," she clarified and continued. "You look deep into the sea for around ten minutes before walking away. I, too, come here and sit on this rock, gazing deep into those waves, just like most people, including you." Looking at her, he added, "I do understand what's going on in your mind because I, too, have gone through the same situation, and we all come here to calm down our hearts, minds, and souls."
"Lucky you. At least you can console your heart, mind, and soul," she stressed. "Why can't you calm your heart, mind, and soul?" Raj questioned.
She then smiled wistfully before answering, "If only I could!"

Raj smiled and sat on the beach, looking deep into the sea, before walking away. He looked behind him as he walked to see if the lady was still sitting on the rock. She was not there; some other people occupied the rock where she sat. He smiled and walked away.
His glance fell on a municipality employee overseeing the beach's cleanliness. He wished him, "Good evening, how are you?" "I'm fine, sir; you are a bit late today," the employee responded. "Yes, I had some work to be completed," Raj clarified. Raj then pointed at the rock and asked the employee," Do you know the lady who sat on the rock a while ago?" "Sir, are you talking about a lady in a red dress?" "Yes," Raj confirmed. "Sir, she used to sit there months ago, mourning the loss of her son, taken away by the tsunami, just like you mourn the loss of your dear brother, taken away by the tsunami." "Is it?" Raj exclaimed and continued, "But you just mentioned that she used to sit there? I'm still not clear."
The worker sighed deeply and clarified, "Sir, she couldn't bear the loss of her son, and one day, she walked into the sea, calling her son's name. She never returned! There are a few other people also who have seen her recently sitting on that rock."
