Jealousy, Jealousy
#WritcoStoryPrompt121
Write a short story with the word "Jealousy" as the main theme.

HER. It was always her. In some way, shape or form, it had always been. It had never been about ME. Always HER.

The way all of the students and teachers turned their heads to stare at her as she walked down the hall. The way she was constantly cat-called and hollered at by the most popular of guys. The kind of life any girl our age could ever wish for. It was her who lived what could only be a fantasy for us. The commoners. That's what I felt like. A commoner among her royalty.

Whenever I walked down the hall, all I got were strange stares and scoffs from fakes. All I ever got was ignorant boys making fun of my ugly body and personality. No one ever complained about HER. It was always ME. And now she wanted to be my friend.

"H-Hello?"
Was she questioning talking to me? Did she think that this was a mistake? She probably wanted something.

"Yeah?" I ask, a tone of annoyance in my voice. Maybe a little bit too noticeable but did I care?

"Could I–"
Her eyes widened, a pure emotion of fear written all over. What was she doing–

She grabs me, holding me close enough to hear her heart beat.

Thump
Thump Thump
Thump

Was she really afraid? I turn to look where she had seen this frightening thing. All I saw was the busy hallway. Literally anyone could have been them.

"S-Sorry.." She mumbled apologetically, letting go of me and looking around.

"Phew he left."

"who left?"
