Christopher Columbus (born between October 31, 1450 and October 1451, to May 20, 1506) was an Italian explorer, explorer, navigator, and settler. He was born in the Republic of Genoa (now northwestern Italy). He crossed the Atlantic Ocean four times under the auspices of the Spanish monarchy, and Europe became known as the American continent.
That voyage and his efforts to establish a permanent colony on the island of Hispolinio laid the foundation for further Spanish colonization of the New World.
