Heroes With an Accent

I challenge you to increase your awareness. Names, all of us have at least one, who pays attention to names. Will you? Hi Maria. Good morning Jose. Good afternoon Annie. Good evening Pablo and good night Esperanza. There are heroes among us. They are disguised in everyday clothes and are often seen wearing work clothes Hospital scrubs while using public transportation. Our heroes keep us safe, clean our schools, office buildings, hospitals and homes clean. They are often underpaid and perform their jobs with pride and without complaints. Check if you will, the kitchen of any Restaurant and you might just see our heroes working. The kitchen is hot. The floor is slippery and the work is never ending, always hustling food in and out.

Celebrate Our Strength

We celebrate our heritage and embrace our diversity as members of an international multicultural community in the United States.
The Hispanic American population accounts for more than 50 percent of the population growth in the United States since 2010, according to the Pew Research report dated July 10, 2020. Hispanic Heritage month is celebrated from September 15 to October 12. In the United States, we embrace our culture, our history, our values and our language. How many Hispanic people or Latino people self identify as one or the other? Being Hispanic is the modern term to replace the traditional name of Latino. Anyone who completes an employment application, or a College application, or even the Census is prompted to self identify. What are you? Really, what is your ethnicity? Someone identifies Hispanic because of their cultural or national affiliation to a Spanish speaking country. Being a Spanish speaker is the criteria which bonds our culture because we are so much more inclusive than ever before.

Conclusion

What is your superpower? Our undercover heroes wear many uniform and even regular dress clothes as Business owners, Teachers, Firefighters, Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, hats and have many responsibilities. Mom, daughter, caregiver, wife, bilingual customer service representative. Custodian, food service worker, Construction worker. Let's remember not all heroes wear capes, they wear Aprons.
