Following Up On Fake
Ringing woke me. An old school phone connected to the wire in the wall cupped in my arm next to my body rattled with another ring. Bringing me closer to this conscious relm I picked up the receiver breaking out, "Hello?" Without hesitation a womans voice responded saying my results from tests I had made in the office were in and a personal appointment needed to be scheduled now. I agreed to 3P.M. and confirmed to reach me where She did. Went back to sleep thinking how funny the question was. No one has this number. I thought.
I remembered the colors and fear when it rang again. The group behind me in greys and blacks holding pitchforks and wood staffs of fire brightly glowing in flames rainbow.
At first I saw them filtered in people lined on both sides of a road I was progressing slowly on. Shifting evenly I smiled waving at the crowd cascaded on sidewalks in front of stores. I thought they were shadows until I saw there was no Sun and it was artificial lighting leading to a pin hole pixel at the tunnel end. I was looking through a telescope on a step stool. I was a worm being torchered by a kid with a match. Ringing again. I raise up on one side elbow holding now for the Operater stating the arrival of an Orator I did not recall auditioning for. He said, "Hello, Miss...and you already know who this is. Fate damn it." Hanging up giving me no time for retort. Slid back into my resort. Waking without ringing, instead slight vibration from the smart phone next to me on the bed I had been healing from a facial surgery. The results from what looked like a schedule of events I was to attend. I fumbled to remember, falling asleep again before I really knew. The answer came with the voice of a Nurse moving my hospital bed to raise me. Telling me they weren't able to put my face completely back together again. #WritcoStoryPrompt
