Backfire
She stared at him from a friendly distance, assessing his physique.

He wasn't exactly the huge, broad-shouldered type but he wasn't scrawny-looking either; he was somewhere in between. He was taller than she was and much wider too, considering her lean stature.

He wore an indifferent expression that would make everyone but adamant Naive steer clear of him. His brown skin, shiny and much darker than hers, attracted Naive. Not as much his dark brown eyes but they still did. His eyes, however, they looked somewhat... guilty. Guilty of hiding secrets the world couldn't know. Ever.

She gave a lopsided grin as she sauntered over to his side, careful to respect his private space, while invading it. She almost laughed at her own silliness.

"Hello!" She chirped. If he heard, he didn't react. She wasn't in the least embarrassed. After all, that was her plan - to break past those walls and uncover the secrets then, leave as though she were never there. Anticipation didn't give any room for embarrassment.

"You did great out there. The way you sang and the soothing tune you played on the guitar," Naive said, less excited. He didn't look like someone who would like flattery.
