Social media experience
#WritcoStoryPrompt72
On social media, the unexpected is usually formed.
Some years back, I was suffering from depression after a loss of my maternal grandfather whom I had a strong bond with since I was a little girl.
I couldn't fathom the thought of his eternal absense and so to cope, I would post on a particular social media platform. It seems to be a good idea to express how I felt through poetry and pictures of myself dressed in black.
Little did I know that, I would be labelled all sorts of things. One that hurt me the most was being called an "attention seeker". Since then I still haven't discontinued expressing thoughts, I became a bit more anxious about sharing my emotions. Which I still do, lesson learned.
Although the experience was quite upsetting and insensitive... now I can empathize with those doing the same thing I did by offering support and kindness. A little grace goes a long way.
