Love at a bump
#WritcoStoryPrompt42
She chose her cleanest piece of clothing to wear. It was a festival afterall and she wanted to celebrate with everyone else. When she stepped into the street a speeding car drove by splashing dirty water on her.
A tear fell down her cheek. "The poor had no right to celebrate, " she thought to herself sulking. She walked all the way to the festival so that she would let the dress dry itself in the sun. When she was nearly getting there, she realised that her dress was completely dry though it had a huge brown stain on it that she was sure one could see from afar.

She reached the festival venue and before she entered she took a deep breath in and out and told herself, "don't let that incident bring you down kuhu, you woke up ready to have fun and enjoy yourself for the first time since your parents passed away and you know they wouldn't let you sulk all day in here, enjoy yourself and remember the good times you spent together at this festival, smile and be happy, that's what they would want." Kuhu then walked in, ready to enjoy and be with her parents once again. She walked in with a smile on her face, her face held high and looking straight ahead at a specific point as if she had already identified the position she wanted to be. Being so focused she bumped into someone who was also not paying attention to where he was walking. "Hey, look where you're going," they both shouted at each other at the same time. "You should apologize right this instant or else!" Kuhu said with an expression on her face as if she wanted to box the guy standing in front of her. "Hey calm down, calm down, chill this is a happy day, you to should be happy." The guy said. "Sorry, today just seems not to be my day that's all. I am so sorry for bumping into you," Kuhu left that with a sad expression on her face.

Kuhu walked straight on to wherever she was going, again telling herself to be happy and smile. She reached to where people were having fun and singing and she joined in on the fun. She was enjoying herself too much to even notice the people around her, it was as if she was in her own peaceful world. Then someone threw color on her, a bunch of people stepped on her and she fell flat on her face. At that moment, all sadness that was in her before came back rushing into her mind, then she remembered her parents, how much she missed them and wished they were there with her.

Kuhu run to the temple that was there and started shedding tears. "Why did you have to leave me mum and dad, who will take care of me now, am all alone, I wish we could go back to the old times where we were all happy and I thought and you would always be by my side taking care of me. When then did you have to leave me?! " Kuhu spoke as she sat on the ground. A gentleman then walked into the temple and said his prayers and as he was on his way out, he noticed a girl sitting on the ground with her face bent down, making a sound as if she was crying. "Hey girl, why are you crying, today is a great day?" He asked. "Well it's not so good for me, I'm all alone." Kuhu said, face still bent. "Hey come on I'm sure there are plenty of us who are alone here today so please don't be sad on this bright sunny day." The guy said to Kuhu. "Am not talking about being alone on this day, am talking about being alone in life, I have no one anymore, they both left me alone here on earth without even saying goodbye," Kuhu said while crying.

The guy sat down next to her and gave her a big hug and Kuhu slid comfortably into his arms and calmed down, and her sobs slowly quietened down. After a few seconds of being close to each other, Kuhu pushed back surprised at what had just happened. Kuhu looked up and realised she knew the guy, that the gy was the one she bumped into at the entrance. "It's you," With a smile on her face. "We met at the entrance, I'm so sorry for crying on you like this when we don't even know each other." Kuhu told him. "My name is Kunal, there now you know me. Smile now, am sure those that left you are at peace now and they wouldn't want you to be sad on this bright, blessed, love filled day." Kunal told Kuhu.

Kunal stood up and stretched out his hand to her, she held onto his hand and she stood up with his help, she bumped into his chest and he held onto her as if he didn't want to let her go. They both looked at each other in the eyes and smiled at each other, then they both walked down the steps into the crowd.

That's how Kuhu found love, a partner and a friend and from then on, she considered herself lonely no more.

The End
