The orgin of korattymuthy church and miracles of korattymuthy
The Blessed Virgin Mary is known in Koratty and its environs as "Korattimuthi". This pilgrimage center is located at the northern end of the Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly. Many pilgrims of various religions from Kerala and other states are satisfied to see their mother and receive blessings.There are many legends about the origin of the church. Six or seven centuries ago, Kerala was ruled by a number of sub-divisions. Koratti Kaimal and Lord Kodacherry were the two nearby viceroys. The fact that their descendants still live here adds to the credibility of this legend. Many Christians had served in the war under their hands.Among those who were martyred in a battle between Kaimal and the Lord was Sri Kavalakattu Kochuvarith, the general of Kaimal.At that time, Ambazhakkad was the only Catholic church in the area. Arrangements were made to hold the funeral of Shri Kochuvarith in the church with due honors and religious rites but it was not possible due to the intervention of Lord Kodacherry.On the way back, the coffin was lowered to rest. Later it was so firmly in place that it could not be picked up no matter how hard I tried. On learning of this, Kaimal arranged for the body to be buried at the present site of the cross and for the immediate construction of a church at his own expense for his Christian dependents.The church of Korattimuthy is the church that was formed in this way.
Now to the wonders of Korattimuthi:-
1).It is said that on the festival of korattymuthy , a train came and stopped at Koratty , before trains doesn't stops at Koratty. Despite trying hard, the train did not move. When the passengers heard the fireworks shots and came and made vows about the fireworks , they went back and the train started moving. The station was formed as per the vows of the then authorities.
2)Madurai Courts, Koratty is a company formed several years ago. It has been observed that thousands of people worked to build a military airport on the site of the company, and the work was eventually halted with no execution for the contractor to proceed with the work, and then accompanied by a large crowd accompanied by large crowds of workmen with baskets and mammoths of gold and silver. A helicopter landed on the ground. It is said that a woman carrying a baby always interrupted her work. Eventually the movement had to be abandoned without completion. It was there that the sweet courts that fed so many families took shape.
