Excessive religious work means more than necessary religious work. Such as: Ishrak prayers, zikir, training all day, to be engaged etc.
But extensive knowledge is needed to explain many aspects of theology.
If a person is engaged in extra religious activities, it may be impossible for him to acquire extensive knowledge.
I am never forbidding to do religious deeds, but need not do extra religious activities.
There were two types of Muslims in the past.
Scholar and abed.
Abeds could not practice knowledge the way the scholars did.
The scholars did not do the way Abed did.
It is said that Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi (Rah.) Wrote one and a half thousand books.
As a historian and theologian, I think that if he had been involved in extra-curricular activities like Abed, he would never have written so many books. ©️All Right Reserved by Junayed Ashrafur Rahman

অতিরিক্ত ধর্মকর্ম মানে, আবশ্যক ধর্মকর্মের চেয়ে বেশি। যেমন : ইশরাকের নামায, সারাদিন জিকির, তালিম প্রভৃতিতে লিপ্ত থাকা।
কিন্তু ধর্মতত্ত্বের অনেক বিষয় ব্যাখ্যা করতে প্রয়োজন ব্যাপক জ্ঞান।
যদি কোন ব্যক্তি অতিরিক্ত ধর্মকর্মে লিপ্ত থাকেন, তবে তিনির পক্ষে হয়ত অসম্ভব হবে ব্যাপক জ্ঞান অর্জন করা।
আমি কখনই ধর্মকর্ম করতে নিষেধ করছি না, বরং বলছি অতিরিক্ত করার দরকার নাই।
অতীতের যুগে দুই ধরনের মুসলমান ছিলেন।
আলেম ও আবেদ।
আলেমরা যেভাবে জ্ঞানচর্চা করতেন, আবেদরা সেভাবে পারতেন না।
আবেদরা যেভাবে ধর্মকর্ম করতেন, আলেমরা সেভাবে করতেন না।
কথিত আছে, মাওলানা আশরাফ আলী থানভী (রাহ্.) দেড় হাজার পুস্তক রচনা করেছিলেন।
একজন ঐতিহাসিক ও ধর্মতাত্ত্বিক হিসেবে আমার মনে হয়, যদি তিনি আবেদদের মত অতিরিক্ত ধর্মকর্মে লিপ্ত থাকতেন, তবে কখনই এত পুস্তক রচনা করতে পারতেন না। ©️All Right Reserved by Junayed Ashrafur Rahman
