memories in moonlight
When will I let it go
When will I stop letting pieces of you
become pieces of me
Why do I remember you like I saw you yesterday

A shirt in my closet,
Photos I’ve thrown away.
This is all that’s left of two strangers
Who hollowed themselves out for each other,
Who looked for each other in the moon.
Who once shared pieces of the same soul.

But you’ve overlapped into me.
I don’t seek forgiveness.
I seek reflection, of a different time.
Memories not to be forgotten.

Somewhere in the world,
We walk on different paths.
But somehow, you’re still in the moon.
Reduced to a passing thought.
I can’t forget you.
