my existential prayer

“My heart sings first, what my gut is feeling. When the protests are marching, and the voices declaring— a fairer right for women and children who are also living; Breathing, feeling, crying, hoping, praying, imagining… a world kinder. A world without them dreaming of dying. Let there be peace on earth when my time comes. Let there be lessons learnt; I hope to live to see this happen. I hope to live free, to know I’m safe and don’t have to look over my shoulder. I hope to breathe air, and drink water purer. I hope to give birth to a child healthier, with a husband kinder. I know in my heart what I’m deserving of, but I also know the world I’m living in… is not what I was groomed to believe in.”
