I believe the reason why depressed people don't make friends is because there is no emotion they feel that needs attending. There is, I reckon a certain amount of enthusiasm for similar interests , or a certain healthy amount of fear that drives friendships to be made. A depressed person has all emotions numbed. In numbing all emotions , they're numb with respect to even a little healthy amount of fear that drives us to look for friends. There's no question about enthusiasm as they have a lack of interest in everything. They are alone and yet they'd rather prefer that.
