what we see as a kind gesture is not what we expect. People are nice to you and it's them being just nice to you, yes it infact is a cruel thing when you already expecting more from them and think you are special. But the people who are nice to you are also nice to everybody else. When finally you find out this truth the lie behind that kindness will shatter you. That is why hachiman hikigaya says at the end, "I'll always hate nice girls"
